Little Gifts

2014. Soooooon.

Early in October I whipped up about a dozen of these to give out to my friends and family.
You've probably seen an assortment of these little hand warmers on Pinterest, they are filled with rice and were well received. (Seriously, they are far too cute.)

My ideas may not be original, but the amount of laughter these bearded hats caused was totally worth it. Seriously, I wish I had a picture of my mom sporting the look. Luckily my dad and soon to be brother-in-law appreciated their gifts with gusto.

Happy New Year everyone! I plan to spend more time with myself this year (a strange proclamation, and not to be taken with a creepy vibe) to recuperate and heal emotionally. Not that I'm dead inside or anything, but I gave so much of myself to 2013 that 2014 will be a little more selfish... and hopefully a little more productive for my crafts and hobbies! How about you?

The End of Another Year

To all of my followers, occasional readers, friends, and family,

I'm a terrible blogger.

This year has been a whirlwind of moving, training, and finally working. As such my blog became my last priority. Although set aside I still have a love of my little crafty corner. I will never close down entirely, but my posts will be terribly sporadic, if at all.

So I apologize for the missed emails, the unanswered questions, and the general way I've been ignoring anything and everything. I'm still crafting, and still writing, and even still obsessing over nerdy things, so my heart is in it, but my time is not!

I love you all for sticking with me. You guys are way more awesome than you give yourselves credit for. Here is some of my year's highlights to celebrate the things I DID manage to accomplish.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!

I did henna for my beautiful foundation instructor who helped
me become a yoga teacher. Her wedding was perfect.

I finally perfected various forms of headstand. This is me goofing off in one.

I went to Disneyland and no fun was had that day.
(I'm the grumpy one in the back, and actually that day was amazing.)

I made and sold hairbands that ACTUALLY hold my hair in place.
Still selling them actually!

My creative masterpiece of the year was a lovely crocheted Rainbow Dash.

And one of my proudest moments: meeting Patrick Rothfuss.
This guy really is as cool as he seems.

Minion

I made this little guy for my brother-in-law's 20th birthday.

Funny enough I like him with angry eyes. It makes me giggle.

Beer Mitten Brilliance!

Over the weekend we celebrated Ellensburg's annual Brewfest, the chance to walk around in the frigid cold traipsing over icy walkways while mildly inebriated. It's good fun!

My family always hosts a small gathering of friends and this year a buddy of my dad's gave him a beer mitten. No joke! Check this baby out!

Part mitten!

Part beer cozy!

True brilliance!

Now I have to learn how to make these. Beer holder mitten? Who DOESN'T need that?!

Look! Something Shiny!

Yesterday I was invited to an earring making party. I had no idea what that actually meant, but my friend likes to make earrings and I wanted to see her before I head back to LA so I thought it would be fun.

More like fantastic! She had an expansive (or perhaps obsessive) selection of beads to choose from and then we were able to design how we wanted the earring to look and she put it all together for us! Turns out this is a new thing she's doing to help make her crafty hobby into a little side business. Effing brilliant and way more interactive for anyone with a flair for the creative. (I mean sure, you can be creative with Mary Kay cosmetics and make yourself look like a clown, but you start to get weird looks when everyone else is all "I want to look like a movie star!" Pfft, yeah, like that's going to happen.)

Anyway I loved the pair of earrings I go to help make. See?

Combination of natural stones and a couple added silver touches. Awesomely long to make up for my short, short hair.

If you're into beaded earrings check out her etsy page and if you live in Washington state see if she'll get you going with an earring party!

I'm also kind of a dork so we had a mini photo shoot of me mimicking her collection of masks.

Welcome 2013!

Hello everyone!

I know, I know. I disappeared for a while again. Part of my lack of posting is how busy I've become! In the last week alone I've been swamped with calling a million different people and preparing for my move back down to California.

On the plus side I got a new laptop for my birthday/Christmas! So now I have the proper tools to be successful. Speaking of which I'm slowing moving everything into my proper name so if you would like to find me on twitter go here:

https://twitter.com/McNameeT

or on facebook go here:

https://www.facebook.com/McNamee.TL

As I slowly transfer I might work on getting this page updated to my own name as well. If you've emailed me in the last couple of weeks please be patient! I got a little swarmed over the holidays and with moving my brain spends a lot of time in a gelatinous state.

I did, however, manage to make a couple Christmas gifts this year. Fashioned off a slipper found on pinterest (another place you can find me if you don't mind a ton of pins from Doctor Who).

My feet were a little small to show them off properly, but they fit my friend quite well.

I'm working to get back into the swing of things, but it may take a little time, so hang in there!
